Remembering Scarlet. She was saved from Kaufman Kill Pen on April 5, 2017. It is with great sadness that I am posting that our rescue, Scarlett, a beautiful 5 year old, Arabian sorrel mare had to be euthanized this evening. She had nerve damage from an infection in her gutteral pouches and lungs that they think she acquired well over a 5 months ago and being in the kill pen , and stressed she was not able to have the immunity to be able to fight the infection, despite many courses of antibiotics . The nerve damage was actually becoming so severe that she was not able to swallow food and it was impairing her ability to breath. She is finally running wild. Be free Scarlett.
